Things to See and Do

Home>Things to See and Do

If you are feeling energetic and the weather is not too hot or cold, how about trying one of the local hiking routes around Kurokawa? An English Hiking Map is available from reception or the Visitor Center, offering a choice of 3 hiking courses to scenic spots and lookout points around Kurokawa. A complete circuit covers approx. 8km in total with some moderate uphill climbs,so allow at least 3-4 hours and we do advise you to take drinks with you. Of course, you can just try a section of one route if you want to take a look at the view of Kurokawa from the Ikenomoto mountainside (course 1),Aso from Hiranodai(course 2) or local paddy fields and cool streams (course 3).

  • One suggestion is that you drive or take a taxi to Suzume Jigoku (10mins),look around the Seiryunomori area then walk back down into the town (approx. 2hours). This is recommended if you have limited time and don’t want a long uphill walk at the beginning of your hike!
